Honeywell is LNG choice for Korea Gas Corporation

0

Honeywell has been selected by the government owned Korea Gas Corporation to provide automation solutions for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. The contract represents a multimillion-dollar project order with Honeywell Process Solution (HPS) and constitutes the latest development in an alliance between the firms that began back in 2000.

Kim HyounJoong, Lifecycle Service Leader of Honeywell Korea, commented, “In recent years, global demand for natural gas has risen sharply. With the implementation of HPS’ solutions, KOGAS can optimise the performance, security and cost effectiveness of its terminals, and in doing so, achieve a significant competitive advantage in the expanding global LNG market.”

HyounJoong added, “Our team is always ready to support KOGAS and ensure that the country’s natural gas needs are met efficiently and safely.” KOGAS has embarked upon the expansion of the TongYoung Terminal and Pyeong Taek LNG Terminal II to meet the growing demand for natural gas in the country. The terminals will serve several functions; including the receiving, storing and regasifaction of LNG – it will also deliver the vaporisation of natural gas via high-pressure transmission mains to gas users.

Within the agreement, HPS will offer-up its Overall Management and Automation System, which includes the Experion® Process Knowledge System and Unisim®. The integrated Experion system, as well as on-the-ground simulation training provided by Honeywell, ensures that the terminals operate with maximum security and performance.
