MATHESON has continued its strategic expansion with the acquisition of Sims Welding Supply in southern California.

Sims Welding Supply is a well-established supplier of industrial, specialty, and bulk gases, plus welding hard goods, equipment, and supplies. Headquartered in Long Beach, Sims operates out of seven locations in Southern California.

Scott Kallman, President and CEO of MATHESON, commented, “This investment is consistent with our vertical integration strategy whereby we strive to serve high growth markets with both industrial and specialty cylinder gases and related equipment along with bulk liquid products.  In this case, we are greatly improving the cylinder distribution component of our infrastructure which complements our significant bulk liquid production capacity in the Los Angeles market.”

Steve Foster, Executive Vice President at MATHESON said, “The addition of Sims’ bulk, industrial, and specialty gas customers provides an opportunity to add efficiencies of scale to our operations in the region.  Our business will immediately benefit from the addition of the dedicated and customer-focused Sims employees.  We welcome aboard our new teammates.”

Kelly Sims II, President at Sims said, “Matheson has been a long-term and valued supplier to us.  As we evaluated our possible business strategies, the natural fit was to go with MATHESON.”

Foster added, “We’ve been working closely with the Sims team for over a decade. The investment in the Sims acquisition is a proud demonstration of the MATHESON commitment to our distribution partners to provide for opportunities beyond the supply of products and services.”
