Keen Compressed Gas: A regional player with mom-and-pop qualities

In the current economic landscape, employee retention is crucial for many businesses. But for Delaware-based Keen Compressed Gas it is a vital part of the company model. At the time of writing, the industrial gas and welding equipment distributor has 115 employees – but it is a number has stuck since the start of the pandemic despite several new business ventures.

“Our employees are spread across 14 locations in the mid-Atlantic region,” Bryan Keen, President of Keen Compressed Gas, tells gasworld. “We’ve done more employee development, training and retention programs in the last year than ever before to try and keep our headcount strong and make sure everyone is motivated and happy.”

Bryan Keen is a third-generation President. He leads a close-knit team that resembles a family in many respects and ensuring everyone is happy is highly important to him. “I have an open book policy,” he explains. “I am very transparent with all our employees. There are no surprises: they know what’s going to happen and when it’s going to happen.”
