Canadian helium exploration and development company Desert Mountain Energy Corp. (DME) has grown from grassroots helium exploration to production in less than three years. The company is today responsible for over 100,000 acres of land in Arizona, a state known to produce some of the world’s richest helium, and hopes to alleviate supply shortages in the Phoenix, Arizona area with its assets.
2022 was a very successful year for DME. The company completed three development wells, took delivery of the McCauley Helium Processing Facility, bought a truck fleet, and acquired more land.At the time of writing, DME has eight wells and four helium fields to bring into production. This year the company will be drilling two more wildcat helium wells and hopes to discover two more helium fields. As DME receives drill permits, offset wells will be drilled to bring on additional production.
Solar-powered helium processing
In January this year, DME started up the world’s first solar-powered helium processing facility. In addition to its solar energy capabilities, the site will also use hydrogen discovered in the McCauley helium field as a back-up energy source.
