North American industrial gas conglomerate, Air Products, has officially brought its second integrated oxy-fuel solution on-stream for Techpack Solutions in Korea.

As part of the ancillary installation, Techpack will instate Air Products’ Cleanfire® HRe burner – the industry’s first of its kind – into the new facility, which aims to enhance Techpack’s furnace control and help optimise its maintenance schedule.

The second system also includes a PRISM® vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) oxygen (O2) generator, which will supply reliable and economical onsite O2 to power the oxy-fuel burners for melting glass.

In addition, the integrated solution emcompasses Air Products’ oxy-fuel combustion system, utilising an automatic control skid and Cleanfire® HRiTM oxy-fuel burners.

Oxy-fuel technology can deliver a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions as well as 10-20% in energy savings, a 25% increase in productivity and an overall improvement in efficiency and glass quality, when compared to using traditional air-fed burners.

Air Products’ deal for the first oxy-fuel supply to Techpack was initially commissioned in November 2011.
