After recently signing a contract to that effect, The Linde Group has revealed plans to build six major air separation units in China, set to go on-stream in 2015.

The plants will be built for Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co. Ltd and Shenhua Logistics Group Co. Ltd in Yinchuan in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in Northwest China.

Shenhua Ningxia is a member of Shenhua Group Co. Ltd, the largest coal chemical company in China, and the ASUs will each supply around 100,000 normal cubic meters of gaseous oxygen per hour (Nm³/h) to the company’s coal-to-liquid (CTL) complex at Ningdong Energy Chemical Base.

The oxygen will be used for the production of four million tonnes of CTL – mainly liquid fuels derived from coal – per year, making it one of the largest CTL projects worldwide.
