The Global Gases Group FZCO has entered into commitments to purchase 16 new 11,000 gallon liquid helium ISO containers, at an investment of more than $12 million.
It is thought that the new helium containers will support Global Gases’ continued growth and provide greater flexibility in securing helium supply from new sources and suppliers.
Phil Kornbluth, Global Gases’ senior vice-president, explained, “Owning our own ISO containers is a key element of our strategy to grow and diversify our helium supply.”
“With a company-owned fleet, we will have increased independence and flexibility that will position us to take advantage of opportunities to expand our helium supply portfolio.”
It is understood that Global Gases will take delivery of the new containers during the period commencing November 2013 and ending May 2014. Deepak Mehta, Global Gases’ managing director, affirmed, “Global Gases’ purchase of 16 new helium containers provides further evidence of our commitment to be the leading independent supplier of helium to the offshore diving market.”
“Before the end of 2013, we will have 11 helium transfills located strategically throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Africa.”
