Servomex is building on its well-established relationship with Reliance Industries Limited by securing a new $1.2 million contract with the company for a complete refit of its vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) manufacturing operations in India.

As one of the world’s top petrochemical product manufacturers, Reliance’s Dahej plant in Gujarat, India produces ethylene dichloride (EDC) for the production of VCM and an anticipated production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

The upgrade of its Dahej plant will see Servomex Systems manage the overall commissioning, planning and build of the analyzer system at the plant, as well as the installation of its equipment.

Two SERVOTOUGH OxyExact 2200 analyzers will provide optimum process and safety control in the chlorinator in the chemical oxidation control system, while SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact 2500 photometric process analyzers will monitor two separate processes – the first being the level of water in EDC before and after cracking for corrosion control, and the second checking ethylene levels in the chlorinator.

Additionally, a SERVOTOUGH FluegasExact 2700 combustion gas analyzer will be used to measure oxygen and combustibles in flue gases to improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.

Ever expanding capabilities

Chris Cottrell, managing director of Servomex, said of the new contract, “Our partnership with Reliance is an exceptional achievement, illustrating our ever-expanding capabilities in meeting the requirements of the world’s leading industrial producers.”

“Our India team in Navi Mumbai, supported by our global operations, will deliver Reliance the very finest systems and support to ensure they maintain their leading edge in VCM production.”

The system will utilize two Servomex analyzers for Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), with monitoring completed utilizing a third party Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and dust monitor.

Used in combination, the Servomex analyzers will provide ‘unequalled levels of accuracy’ and ‘an unsurpassed measurement solution’ for the VCM plant. Servomex Systems will also specify and oversee the build of analyzer shelter and heating, as well as the integration of Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems to enable full process control.
