McPhy Energy, sustainable mobility operator GNVERT and the Métropole Rouen Normandie have joined forces to develop a hydrogen (H2) distribution infrastructure for the Rouen region in Northern France.
In the collaboration, H2 equipment manufacturer McPhy Energy will design and install Rouen city’s first H2 refuelling station based on its McFilling ® solution, which will commence operations in the first quarter of 2017.
Situated at Boulingrin in the centre of Rouen, it will dispense H2 at 350 bar and produce a total capacity of 20kg per day of H2, making it possible to completely refuel 50 fuel cell electric vehicles each day.
The new site will be the seventh station in France to be equipped with McPhy’s McFilling technology.
The Métropole Rouen Normandie has been developing sustainable transport strategies since 2010, with distribution infrastructure deployment for ‘clean’ vehicles throughout the area a key priority of the metropole with the goal of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its transportation sector.
Following the installation, Rouen will become the second city in the French region of Normandy (after Saint- Lô) to deploy a H2 refuelling station. This latest milestone reinforces the region’s H2 mobility framework strategy Territories Hydrogènes.
McPhy Energy and its US partners have been selected as the only finalists for the $1m H2 Refuel H-Prize competition launched by the US Department of Energy (DOE).
