Cold Jet® has announced the launch of the SDI Select™ 60 – a dry ice cleaning system that offers maximum flexibility and is described as ‘revolutionary’.
The new system accommodates dry ice of any form (pellets, nuggets, block and leftover scrap), offers the ability to shave ice or direct feed pellets for unlimited control, accommodates all Cold Jet standard Aero accessories, and delivers proven cleaning effectiveness on the full spectrum of cleaning applications.
The SDI Select 60 offers the value of delicate cleaning and high-level aggression all in one frame. With the ability to shave with any dry ice media – from standard block, 3mm pellets, nuggets, slices and even leftover scrap ice – the SDI Select 60 offers unrivalled cleaning performance and eliminates worries about dry ice availability.
“The SDI Select 60 is designed to be the most simplistic, user-friendly dry ice cleaning system available today,” said Gene Cooke, III, President and CEO of Cold Jet. “With the ability to shave any dry ice media input through patented feeder technology, the SDI Select 60 opens new cleaning opportunities for users who experience limited dry ice availability.”
Seal of approval
Showcasing Cold Jet’s patented shaved ice technology, the SDI Select 60 can clean large surfaces of thin, hard contaminants without damaging the substrate.
When faced with heavier contaminants, the operator can simply bypass the shaving media, turn up the aggression, and clean using full 3mm pellets.
In fact, the new system is already receiving the seal of approval from customers, if the testimony of Randell Heath, Owner of Coldsweep, Inc., is anything to go by.
Heath said, “We used the SDI Select 60 to clean a hydroelectric generator built in 1920 that had never been rewound.”
“The unit was in very poor shape and the main concern was to provide a gentle cleaning action that would not damage the windings that were in poor condition to start with. It performed wonderfully to clean the delicate windings at pressures that varied between 30 and 50 psi. We also used the SDI Select 60 to clean the cast iron portions of the generator housing at higher pressures up to 125 psi.”
“We shaved both block ice and rice pellets with ease and experienced no issues,” said Heath. “The possibility of performing three different types of dry ice cleaning with one machine is very compelling for us. Generator cleaning projects require some very delicate cleaning for some areas, but other areas can tolerate more aggressive cleaning. The SDI Select 60 provides the full spectrum of cleaning capability in one easy-to-use package.”
