Servomex has announced a major deal with Reliance Industries Limited to completely refit the company’s vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) manufacturing operations at its Dahej plant in Gujarat, India.
The $1.2m contract will see Servomex Systems manage the overall commissioning, planning and build of the analyser system at the plant, as well as the installation of its equipment.
Reliance is continuing a well-established relationship with Servomex in the upgrade of its Dahej plant, which produces ethylene dichloride (EDC) for the current production of VCM and an anticipated production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
Reliance required Servomex to deliver a leading-edge solution that ensures the highest product quality while maintaining process safety.
Two SERVOTOUGH OxyExact 2200 analysers will provide optimum process and safety control in the chlorinator in the chemical oxidation control system, utilising Servomex’s high specification paramagnetic transducer for reliable and stable oxygen analysis general and high temperature applications.
SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact 2500 photometric process analysers will monitor two separate processes, the first being the level of water in EDC before and after cracking for corrosion control; the second checking ethylene levels in the chlorinator. A SERVOTOUGH FluegasExact 2700 combustion gas analyser will be used to measure oxygen and combustibles in flue gases to improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.
The system will utilise two Servomex analysers for Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), with the SERVOPRO 4900 continuous emission analyser monitoring carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, sulphur dioxide, and hydrogen chloride (HCL) and SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact (2510) photometric process analyser used for a second HCL measurement. Monitoring is completed utilising a third party Flame Ionisation Detector (FID) and dust monitor.
Servomex Systems will also specify and oversee the build of analyser shelter and heating, as well as the integration of Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems to enable full process control.
“Our partnership with Reliance is an exceptional achievement, illustrating our ever-expanding capabilities in meeting the requirements of the world’s leading industrial producers,” said Chris Cottrell, Managing Director of Servomex. “Our India team in Navi Mumbai, supported by our global operations, will deliver Reliance the very finest systems and support to ensure they maintain their leading edge in VCM production.”
Meanwhile, Servomex has also recently revealed a number of personnel appointments in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and India and its Hummingbird Sensing Technology division.
