As a new independent player in the market, Global Specialty Gases has now commenced operations at its 12,000 square foot specialty gases fill plant in Bethlehem, PA.

The inauguration of production follows the recent completion of construction at the site. Since the plant opening in early August, both domestic and international customers have received shipments.

Part of the Global Gases Group FZCO and a new entrant to the market, Global Specialty Gases is focused on producing custom gases and blends for the lighting industry, calibration gases, pure gases, including Helium 6.0 grade, laser gases and window insulating gases.

The company was born out of what it saw as a gap in the market, as George Hansen, general manager, told SGR in an interview last quarter.

He said, “Global Gases saw an opportunity to enter into the specialty gas market due to the acquisition of leading independent suppliers like Scott Gases, Spectra Gases and the American Gases Group. It is our belief that these acquisitions have left a gap in the market for a new independent specialty gas supplier capable of supplying high quality products and responsive customer service.”

The newly constructed Bethlehem facility is parent company Global Gases’ first location in the US, equipped with state-of-the-art filling, blending and analytical equipment, and utilizes Global Specialty Gases’ proprietary Global Guard cylinder prep process to ensure product purity and conformance to specifications.

Phil Kornbluth, senior vice-president for the Global Gases Group, said of its opening, “We’re excited to have a fully functioning plant that is getting product out the door to customers, and we’re very pleased to be seeing increased interest and quotation activity.”
