Following its recognition by IndustryWeek as one of the country’s Best Plants and for its contribution to the community, representatives from the State of Ohio and City of Mason gathered recently to honor The Harris Products Group’s achievements.

The company’s facility was named one of six winners in IndustryWeek’s prestigious Best Plants competition, and the city and state honored this accomplishment. Nearly 200 employees of the company’s Mason facility and global headquarters gathered to hear the remarks and accept the honor.

The Mason, Ohio, facility manufactures brazing and soldering alloys along with brazing rings and return bends. The alloys are used in the manufacture of OEM products in HVAC/R, transportation and automotive, mining and energy, heavy fabrication and other industries. Products manufactured in Mason are sold in the US and exported to 96 countries.

Victor Kidd, vice-mayor of the City of Mason, and Sherri Carbo, the Southwest Regional Liaison for Ohio Gov. John Kasich, provided comments and congratulations to plant leaders and employees. Carbo read a proclamation from the State of Ohio, declaring the day to be Harris Products Group Day.

“The Harris Products Group has been a shining example of Ohio’s comeback as they have reimagined their business plan in order to meet the demands of their industry,” Carbo said. “It is our honor to acknowledge your successes, and we hope that you will be able to continue to capitalize on your hard work and determination.”

Kidd also read a proclamation from the city, “After delivering compelling proof of strong manufacturing performance and a comprehensive focus on continuous improvement, the Harris Products Group facility in Mason, Ohio, has officially won IndustryWeek’s 2012 prestigious, Best Plants competition, recognizing them as a pacesetter among North American manufacturers.”

Mayor David Nichols also passed along his congratulations, during a prestigious day for the company. “As a former CEO, I know first-hand what a challenge it can be to ensure a company is meeting performance metrics across the board. Harris Products Group, a long-time partner of the City of Mason, didn’t just meet company targets – according to IndustryWeek, they broke records, shattered expectations and yielded industry best results to become one of the top 6 plants in North America,” he said.

“Congratulations on this tremendous recognition. Not only is this significant for Harris, but also for economic development in Mason and Ohio as it draws attention from Harris customers and supply chain vendors across the US.”

As part of Friday’s event, Harris Products Group president David J. Nangle also announced individual recognitions for plant employees for perfect attendance and honored six President’s Award winners for their contributions to the company’s success.

“The accolades we have received this year are only possible because of our team’s commitment to the customer, to high quality and to continuous improvement. These individuals exemplify the qualities of a company performing at its best. For every one being honored today, there are dozens more worthy of recognition,” Nangle said.
