Meggitt PLC and its Meggitt Sensing Systems division held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration for its new location in Irvine, CA in September.
Meggitt Sensing Systems specializes in sensing and monitoring systems, and is understood to be focusing on California to expand its sensor and electronics manufacturing.
The new 190,000-sq.-ft. facility houses the consolidation of operations from facilities in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Londonderry, NH.
Meggitt expects to grow the workforce to nearly 500 over the next five years with an investment of $24 million.
A ribbon-cutting celebration was attended by senior corporate management, the consul generals of the UK and Switzerland, the mayor of Irvine, and representatives of state and national elected officials as well as the California Governors Office of Business and Economic Development.
Special guests attending the event included Peter Huber, president of Meggitt Sensing Systems, and Irvine Mayor Steven Choi.
“We are strengthening our position in North America by establishing a strong engineering center with a world-class manufacturing operation,” said Huber. “We anticipate a smooth transition to this new location that offers a very attractive working environment, efficient production capabilities and layout, a highly positive impression for our customers, and room for growth.”
