Global Specialty Gases has named Michael Banks as its new director of sales, effective September 23, 2013, responsible for the company’s new business development and sales in the US.

Banks will also direct the worldwide specialty gases sales efforts of parent company, The Global Gases Group.

Banks has more than 27 years of specialty gases sales, marketing, plant operations, and customer service experience and prior to joining Global Specialty Gases, he was responsible for the sale of specialty gases and hardgoods to universities and research companies in the Southeastern US for Airgas, Inc.

Previously, he directed all aspects of specialty gas production for ILMO Products Company, including quality control, filling and analysis of pure and mixed gases, and cylinder preparation. His background also includes time with Holox Ltd., and National Welders in a range of sales, marketing, plant operations, production, and laboratory analysis positions.

The appointment is seen as a significant move for Global Specialty Gases, a company that has only recently completed construction of a new 12,000 square foot specialty gases fill plant in Bethlehem, PA. The facility is Global Gases’ first location in the US, equipped with state-of-the-art filling, blending and analytical equipment.
