Conference highlights sector support for ammonia refrigeration

Over 110 participants, from 33 countries took part in this year’s IIR Conference on Ammonia Refrigeration Technology; which reiterated sector support behind NH3.

The event constituted the 4th IIR Biannual Ammonia Refrigeration Technology Conference and was led by a laudable Scientific Committee. Headed by President Andy Pearson, the team incorporated members such as Professor Risto Ciconkov, Professor Jocelyn Bonjour and Professor Predrag Hrnjak, as well as representation from 12 other countries. Indeed, over thirty separate papers were presented during the Macedonian event.

According to conference organisers the outcome was positive and reiterated both individuals and organisational commitment to promote NH3. Moreover, to promote ammonia to its, “rightful place as a major mainstream natural refrigerant to be used in all manner of applications from domestic heat pumps and solar heat powered small absorption AC systems to the largest district heating and cooling systems.”

Those to sponsor the event included Mayekawa, JCI-Sabroe, LU-VE Group, GEA Refrigeration and GCAP. It took place at the Hotel Metropol between 14th and 16th April and was organised by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at University $quot;Ss. Cyril & Methodius$quot;.
