Welcome to our August issue, which shines a light on the role of carbon capture in the energy transition, taking in blue hydrogen and myriad other outputs and developments, and covering both the utilisation and storage of carbon dioxide. It is a fascinating moment when it comes to capturing CO2. Earlier this year, operational global carbon capture capacity stood at about 50 million tonnes of CO2 a year, delivered across perhaps 60 active facilities, with another 40-odd under construction that should add another 44 Mtpa. That would put total expected capacity over 100 Mtpa in the coming years.
