The Linde Group member, Afrox has announced that Brett Kimber is to become the new Managing Director of the firm.
Brett Kimber is currently the Chief Executive of Linde Korea, but from January 2012, will be appointed Managing Director of African Oxygen Limited (Afrox).
Afrox is a specialist in industrial gases, welding and safety products. Kimber, who will be the tenth Managing Director in Afrox’s 84-year history, said, “To lead Afrox is a privilege I will shoulder with determination, drawing on a reservoir of practical experience gained within the industrial gases sector in South Africa and internationally.”
He added, “My aspiration is to ensure the Afrox group continues as a great company, one of the icons of industry in South Africa, and that it continues to grow for the benefit of customers, shareholders, employees and the communities in which we operate.”
Limber, aged 50, has held various senior positions in The Linde Group, Afrox’s majority shareholder. These include Global Business Manager for former BOC Edwards’ Bulk Gases Product Division in Singapore, Project Development Manager with Linde North America; various senior posts in Afrox between 1990 and 1998, and Senior Research Geologist with Anglo American Research Laboratory.”
African Oxygen (Afrox) has issued a statement announcing the resignation of managing director Tjaart Kruger, effective in the third quarter of year, with an exact date to be confirmed.
A landmark agreement has been signed between Air Products South Africa and Sasol Chemical Industries, which will see Air Products purchase the Sasolburg A2100 air separation unit (ASU), and simultaneously commence with a new long-term supply agreement.
