The 37th All India Industrial Gases Manufacturers Association (AIIGMA) Seminar continued in vibrant fashion today following a prior evening of festivities that featured an Indian showcase of dance and music.
Day two commenced with delegates welcomed to the morning’s technical sessions. Chaired by AIIGMA Vice-President Anish Patel, the morning’s first session saw Dr. Prof. G. Venkatrathnam of IIT Madras take to the stage to discuss the development of cryogenic mixed refrigerant process.
This was followed by another informative presentation on renewable energy, with a focus on wind generators and such facilities in India, by Sarvesh Kumar of RRB.
The technical speakers’ presentations were concluded with an insightful presentation on gross service tax from Mr Harishankar of Ernest & Young, which included information on the different rates – as well as the implications – for businesses in India.
Following feedback from last year’s event, a new panel discussion was introduced to the last session of the day. Chaired by Herose’s Keith Stewart, the panel included Ravin Mirchandani of Mack Valves, Vinayak Kembhavi of Linde India Ltd, and Siddharth Jain from the INOX Group. The panel debated and discussed topics ranging from the impact of the falling oil price, to the future of the industrial gases market in India.
The day was then closed by AIIGMA President R. Kannan who declared it to be an ‘overwhelming success’ before awarding special gifts to speakers and chair people alike, as well as past president Saket Tiku.
The event has been an overwhelming success that has seen the seminar make a welcome return to its home country of India, something that will be celebrated at the evening’s dinner and entertainment event. AIIGMA notes that details of the 2016 seminar will follow in the coming months.
A full event review will follow in the upcoming March edition of gasworld magazine.
