Air Liquide invests €60m in Chinese ASU

Air Liquide has signed a long-term contract with Tongmei Guangfa Chemical Industry Co., Limited, in which it will invest €60m in a new ASU.

According to contract terms, Air Liquide is set to invest substantially in a large ASU. The facility is expected to offer a daily capacity of 2,000 tonnes of oxygen and will supply both oxygen and nitrogen to the customer’s methanol production in Datong, Shanxi province.

Production is planned to commence in July 2012 and during the first phase of the project, 600,000 tonnes of methanol will be produced per year. Jean-Marc de Royere, Senior Vice-President of Asia Pacific and Member of the Air Liquide’s Executive Committee, remarked, “It is a great achievement for Air Liquide to successfully develop another partnership with this new customer in China.$quot;
