Air Liquide Italy will supply nitrogen to international prosecco brand La Marca as part of a new long-term contract.

As part of the agreement, Air Liquide said it has built the first and largest European plant for the self-production of nitrogen, as well as the related infrastructure, in Oderzo, Treviso, northern Italy.

The company will supply 600m3 of nitrogen per hour to La Marca that will be used for inerting applications – a process aimed at avoiding the contact of the wine with oxygen present in the air in order to preserve its original qualities.

The production of nitrogen directly on site will allow the elimination of about 100 trucks that previously transported gas on the road.

Francesco Agostino, General Manager of Air Liquide Italy, said, “Air Liquide is proud to be part of this project and to collaborate with a wine industry leader such as La Marca.”

“This long-term agreement and investments in the Veneto region further demonstrate Air Liquide’s strong position in the food and beverage market and its commitment to providing customers with sustainable, high-quality solutions to meet their growing needs.”
