The Board of Directors of Air Products has declared a quarterly dividend of 44 cents per share of common stock, with the dividend payable on 9th February 2009 to shareholders of record at the close of business on 2nd January 2009.
The news follows the recent announcement of the company’s fourth quarter 2008 results, a set of results which murmured mixed messages in the shade of the financial cloud gripping industry.
The company’s results were impacted by both weaker demand in electronics and lower volumes in Europe, though the overall picture of 2008 appeared as positive as ever. Fiscal fourth quarter income from continuing operations of $273m increased 7%, compared to the same period of 2007.
A tighter control over discretionary spending and operating expenses throughout 2009 was suggested when the results were released, perhaps indicative of the global economic predicament the world finds itself in. Air Products remains resolute in its positive outlook for the year ahead.
