Air Products installs a UK first

0

Air Products is set to install the UK’s first mobile hydrogen refuelling facility. The plant will benefit from dual-pressure capability and will constitute the region’s only station capable of servicing buses.
Ian Williamson, Hydrogen and Bio Energy Systems Director of Air Products, remarked, “As a global market-leader in hydrogen fuelling – involved in many UK projects including fuelling London buses and black cabs – we’re able to deploy our innovative technologies and expertise around the world,”
Williamson continued, “The introduction of this state-of-the-art station, which will be deployed at selected sites across the UK and will be able to fuel a wide range of vehicles to desired pressures, is an important example of how this strategy benefits the UK. This state-of-the-art infrastructure allows the range benefits of hydrogen to be shown in the push towards publically viable electric mobility.”
The company hopes to attract major automotive manufacturers through the high pressure 700 bar hydrogen fuelling capacity; an addition which enables greater range between refueling. Air Products will lead the group involved, which incorporates Transport for London and the vehicle testing facility, Millbrook Proving Ground. The initiative receives partial funding from the Technology Strategy Board and the Department for Transport’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Grant Programme.
