Air Products has been named on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI) for the ninth consecutive year.
The index measures a company’s economic, environmental, social and governance practices and Air Products’ Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi said it was testament to the corporation’s 15,000 staff’s “consistent commitment”.
The Tier One corporation has been ranked among the top 20% of companies in its industry group for corporate sustainability performance.
“DJSI is one of the most respected sustainability indexes, and to be recognized by DJSI is a tribute to all our employees who help make Air Products successful,” said Ghasemi.
“Achieving the DJSI listing for the ninth consecutive year is a recognition of a consistent commitment and dedication to sustainability. At Air Products, we demonstrate this commitment daily through the innovative technologies that we develop, the way we produce our products, and the way we make our customers’ processes better, all aimed at benefitting the environment.”
Air Products was also confirmed as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series, which measures the performance of companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
Air Products had fiscal 2017 sales of $8.2bn from continuing operations in 50 countries and has a current market capitalization of about $35bn.
Launched in 1999, the DJSI World represents the gold standard for corporate sustainability and is the first global index to track the leading sustainability-driven companies based on RobecoSAM’s analysis of financially material Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and S&P DJI’s robust index methodology. Every year, RobecoSAM assesses the world’s largest companies via its Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which uses a consistent, rules-based methodology to convert an average of 600 data points per company into one overall score. This score determines inclusion in the DJSI.
