Air Products has shipped a distillation column to Papua New Guinea as part of its contract with Lihir Gold Ltd.
On 8th August, the 100 ton distillation column was transported from Air Products’ manufacturing facility in Acrefair, North Wales, England, to Lihir Gold Ltd, in Papua New Guinea.
Early in 2009, Air Products announced it had signed a contract to build an air separation unit (ASU) for Lihir Gold Ltd in a location over 500 miles from the capital of Papua New Guinea.
The new plant will produce over 1,800 tpd of oxygen, almost doubling the total oxygen production on the island.
