Air Water has reached an agreement with Nippon Steel Chemical for the transfer of gas business assets at their Hikari plant, Yamaguchi.

The business will be taken over by the joint venture NCSS Air Water in which Air Water contributed 65 per cent and Nippon Steel Chemical 35 per cent.

The Hikari plant has an ASU and a hydrogen generator. The ASU, produced by Air Liquide, has capacities for GO, LO, GN, LN and AR. Mitsubishi Gas Chemicals produced the hydrogen generator. These facilities will be transferred to Air Water along with the 22 employees.

The financial details were not disclosed.

As a result of this agreement the Air Water group has acquired its second onsite supply for Nippon Steel, following that of the Muroran plant.
