Airgas Inc. has completed the acquisition of the assets and operations of Refron Inc, effective at the close of business on 31st July 2008 and further strengthening the operations of Airgas Refrigerants Inc.
Refron is a nationwide reseller and distributor of refrigerants that also provides technical services and refrigerant reclamation services, generating around $93m in revenues in 2007.
Based in Long Island City, New York, the company will continue trade as Refron and becomes part of Airgas Refrigerants Inc, with former President Jay Kestenbaum leading the Refron team and serving as Senior Vice President of Product Management for Airgas Refrigerants.
Chuck Broadus, President of Airgas Refrigerants, commented, “We are very happy to welcome 60 Refron associates working in Long Island City, NY; Baton Rouge, LA; and Long Beach, CA, to Airgas Refrigerants.”
