Climate change and the energy crisis are prevailing concerns around the world. Meeting the growing challenges of environmental issues while strengthening the economy is one of the greatest tests facing the world today. The Industrial Gas Industry is in a position to develop and support many of the solutions that will be required to both clean up existing environmental problems and prevent future problems through emissions control and clean energy sources.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a city steeped in the history of great American technological and industrial enterprises, will be host to the first American- European “Energy and Environment Week” (EEW), held on April 12-16 (Expo & Conference: 13-15, Site Tours & Networking Events on April 12&16) at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The EEW is designed to raise the profile and intensity of renewable energy in the United States. According to organizers, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will award $16 billion dollars to energy programs plus another $20 million to environmental programs. Of the $16 billion dollars allocated to renewables and energy efficiency, some $450 million will be spent on projects in Pennsylvania alone.

Two established events — “Energy from Biomass and Waste” and “Hydrogen Expo” — both of which have become leading industry gatherings, are combined within EEW. By integrating these two related shows into one large expo, the EEW plans to attract a wider range of buyers and influencers.
