ANDRITZ supplies Turkish hydropower plant

Austrian company, ANDRITZ, supplies electromechanical equipment for hydropower station in Turkey.
International Group ANDRITZ is to supply electromechanical equipment to the llisu hydropower station in Turkey. Provisions will total approximately 340 MEUR and the order is expected to be booked in the second quarter of 2010.
The ANDRITZ HYDRO contract incorporates six Francis turbines, each with an output of 200 MW, six generators, additional equipment and engineering services, while the current delivery time will total seven years.
Turkey is fast requiring development in hydropower due to a rapid rise in electricity demand. Ilusu is expected to provide eco-friendly electricity for around two million households by 2015. As part of the development project local infrastructure will also be improved. Three cities will benefit from modern wastewater treatment plants, while regionally drinking water supplies will be enhanced, as well as bridges and roads being constructed. In total, 4,000 new jobs will be created.
ANDRITZ is part of the delivery consortium led by Turkish company Nurol. The overall costs involved in the project are anticipated to near €1.1bn.
