Atlas Copco is expanding in the semiconductor spacing, having today (13th June) confirmed the acquisition of Qolibri.

Based in Roseville, California, Qolibri is a solutions developer for semiconductor subfabs, home to the many pumps and abatement systems that handle exhaust gases and by-products generated by the semiconductor manufacturing process.

Although only a small company, with four employees, Qolibri is looking to launch new products this year (2022) under the semiconductor division within Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique business area.

Geert Follens, Business Area President Vacuum Technique at Atlas Copco, said, “We are making this acquisition to help improve our customers’ sustainability by extending the uptime of our vacuum and abatement solutions.”

News of the acquisition comes at a time when the US semiconductor industry is witnessing unprecedented demands and is having to battle struggles with the stability of rare gases due to the ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
