Atlas Copco has entered into an agreement to acquire Cere Technologies, a US manufacturer of gas and vapour delivery equipment for the semiconductor industry.
News of the planned acquisitions comes amidst supply concerns in the semiconductor market, as a result of increased demand and, most recently, the Ukraine-Russia war.
The acquisition also includes the purchase of two affiliate companies: North Park Metalworkers and Peak Precision Technologies. Together, the companies boast approximately 185 employees.
Geert Follens, Business Area President of Vacuum Technique, said, “Ceres provides critical sub systems for process tools that are complementary to Edwards’ vacuum and abatement solutions for the semiconductor industry.”
“This acquisition will allow us to expand our liquid chemical dispense offer globally through additional technology and know-how. The Ceres acquisition is also a valuable step forward in responding to the increased need to recycle and reuse gases in semiconductor process technology and improve sustainability in line with the industry’s environmental objectives.”
Atlas Copco hopes to close the acquisition in the second quarter of 2022. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Once acquired, Ceres Technologies and its affiliates will become part of the semiconductor division within Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique business area.
