The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has published a revision to its Code of Practice 48, covering the safe filling of third-party owned and/or maintained tanks.

This document details the responsibilities of the user, the tank owner and the gas supplier when filling third party owned tanks used for the storage of refrigerated liquefied gases at a user’s premises.

It includes a procedure to inform BCGA members of tanks which are deemed unsafe to fill.

BCGA said its Code of Practice 48 has superseded Guidance Note 17, BCGA policy and guidance for the safe filling of third-party owned and/or maintained tanks, which has been withdrawn.

Code of Practice 48 can be downloaded free of charge in the Publications area of the BCGA website.
