Linde Canada celebrates 35th anniversary of its speciality gases plant in Edmonton. Linde Canada, an affiliate of Linde North America, opened the plant in 1975. Since then, it has quadrupled in size.

Neal Konowalyk, Plant Manager, commented, “A thirty-five year anniversary is a major accomplishment for any business. It speaks to the stability of the business, the quality of the people, and the level of service provided to customers.”

He continued, “Over thirty five years of operation we weathered many challenges and have worked to continually improve our systems and processes to provide our customers with value-added products and services.”

Since its inception, the plant has moved from housing an acetylene production unit, to mixing production units and a reactive gas handling unit which focus on the speciality gases market.

The Edmonton unit benefits from over 20 years experience in producing stable reactive gas mixtures of hydrogen sulphide, sulphur dioxide and ethylene oxide for the local oil and gas industry.

In addition, the facility produces custom gas and liquid mixtures which are used as laboratory standards throughout Canada, the United States and other global locations. Konowalyk noted, “This is just the tip of the iceberg. We also produce pure gases, such as air, nitrogen and hydrogen, natural gas standards, environmental standards, and other types of mixes.”
