BOC’s Morden site has won a Gold Achievement Award in this year’s RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme.
Representatives from BOC, a member of The Linde Group, will be presented with the Gold award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) during a ceremony in September.
The prestigious annual RoSPA Award scheme recognises commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
BOC’s award is for Achievement, a non-competitive category in the RoSPA scheme. Achievement awards are based on an organisation’s individual occupational health and safety performance assessed against the judging criteria; BOC Morden’s entry included evidence of a good health and safety management system through key performance areas, supported by relevant documentation.
The South London site produces and supplies high purity compressed gases such as argon, nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, methane, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, ethylene oxide and ethylene for a wide range of applications including calibration gas standards for research and educational establishments, agrochemical, fine and bulk chemical industries and water treatment.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said, “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as BOC Morden, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
Andrew Webster, Regional Manager of BOC’s special gases business, commented, “We are delighted and proud to achieve the Gold Achievement Award in the prestigious RoSPA awards for 2015. BOC is committed to achieving zero injuries and incidents and this is external recognition of our approach to occupational health and safety management and the tremendous effort we put in to all aspects of our health and safety performance.”
BOC will be presented with the Gold award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) during a ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on 17th September, the day after the RoSPA Scotland Occupational Health and Safety Congress. The sponsors of the RoSPA Awards 2015 are: NEBOSH; airsweb; Allianz; GPIC; Safety and Health Expo; Springfields Fuels and Tesco Dotcom.
