BOC India is to pitch to build air separation units at new steel projects coming up in Orissa.

Steel sector buyers accounted for 70 per cent of the company’s turnover in the last year, although the company is attempting to grow its non-steel business.

At the company’s annual general meeting, Raj Narayanan, managing director of BOC India, said the company will look at petrochemicals, refineries, chemicals and glass in the non-metal space and is eyeing downstream projects in these sectors. And he said the market for gases for the steel sector is expected to be in the region of Rs 1,500 crore over the next four to five years.

The company has reorganised its operations into process gas solutions and industrial and special products. PGS comprised manufacture and sales of industrial gases from on site plants or by pipeline as well as deliveries of liquefied gases in bulk to customers in diverse industries like metals, glass, pharmaceuticals.
