BOC has signed an agreement with HCL, India's leading Information Technology services company, to provide offshore application and remote infrastructure management services.

This is the first significant infrastructure outsourcing with an offshore provider. A key factor in choosing HCL for these services is their experience and execution capability.

The centre was established prior to Linde's acquisition of BOC and has been designed to provide IT capability for the BOC business. The new management team are yet to determine whether there will be any changes to the centre and its scope.

The Kolkata centre will replace BOC`s existing information management centres in Sydney, Johannesburg and the UK. And will support the BOC gases business across the regions including Canada, US, UK, Ireland, South Africa and South Pacific.

"This centralised management of monitoring, support and project work to the core group systems will provide critical advantage for the BOC group\\$quot;s core business globally," said Peter Dew, BOC Group information management director.
