Electric utility company SaskPower has announced that its carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at the Boundary Dam Power Station captured 48,150 tonnes of carbon dioxide last month.

The average daily capture rate when CCS was online was 2,293 tonnes with a peak one-day capture rate of 2,804 tonnes.

In total, the facility was online for 67% of the month, coming offline for a total of 237 hours to accommodate a ten-day outage at the BD3 power unit.

SaskPower aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% below 2005 levels by 2030.
