During July, SaskPower’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at the Boundary Dam Power Station captured 75,503 tonnes of carbon dioxide, marking the facility’s most succesful month this year.

The average daily capture rate when CCS was online was 2,435 tonnes with a peak one-day capture rate of 2,627 tonnes.

In total, the facility was online for 99.8% of the month, coming offline for a total of 1.5 hours when a booster fan temporarily stopped due to water cooling issues.

SaskPower aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% below 2005 levels by 2030.
