Extensive investment in the oil and gas exploration and production area in the Espirito Santo Basin, in south eastern Brazil, has led to a contract award for Siemens Power Generation to supply 6 compressor trains.

Brazilian oil major Petrobras is investing in the area and will be building a gas treatment plant onshore at Cacimbras to process the gas produced offshore. After treatment the gas will be transported via pipelines to consumers in north eastern Brazil and a further 11 compressor trains will be delivered to Transportadora Gasene S.A for the three pipeline stations.

Each of the total 17 compressor trains that Siemens will provide for the two awarded contracts, consists of a compressor and a mechanical-drive gas turbine, with a total order value of €75m inclusive of construction, commissioning and service contracts.

Frank Stieler, head of Siemens Power Generation Oil and Gas and Industrial Applications, said, $quot;This major order underlines the growing importance of the oil and gas business for Siemens. Thanks to our global facility network we are able to offer tailored solutions from a single source.$quot;
