Burst cylinder injures at STG

Canister bursts injuring man at Scientific Technical Gases Ltd
A man was taken to hospital following a burst aluminium canister. The accident took place at Scientific Technical Gases Limited (STG), in Speedwell Road, Chesterton.
Managing Director of STG, Chris Street, commented, “On Friday 14th May, in the afternoon, a cylinder burst during a filling. The HSE log established that there was no production or operator error.”
He continued, “Our production has fully resumed and the gentleman is expected to make a full recovery and will be returning to work soon.”
The man was transported to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. Subsequently, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service stated, “A man in his twenties had a fractured jaw, a severe laceration under his jaw and some teeth missing.”
STG, formed in 1996, supplies high quality calibration gases to analyser and detection systems users.
