Compressed gas storage system specialist Calvera has signed an equipment supply deal with environmental technology expert Envor Protech Oy as part of a European biogas expansion project.
Under the agreement, the Spanish company will dispatch 19 of its NG-Pod equipment units to a new plant being built in Finland, with further deliveries to follow in the coming weeks.
Under a €1.2bn ($1.3bn) investment, Envor Protech is currently developing the first biogas plant in the world to utilise waste water sludge from a forest harvesting and paper mill plant site in the biogas production and purification process.
Once operational, Calvera’s equipment will be at the core of biogas and CNG distribution in northern Europe, with Envor Protech using it to deliver biogas throughout Finland, Sweden and Estonia.
The NG-pod unit, which was initially designed to enable biogas deliveries to remote areas, works at 250 bar and allows ease of turnover via an optimised replacement system. In addition, all its modules can be filled simultaneously.
In conjunction, Calvera has also developed an NG TRUCK solution that can carry up to 10 NG-Pod units. Its trailer bed is compatible with all tractor head units and offers both uploading and offloading manoeuvres thanks to its optional integrated crane.
The company intends to manufacture 100 units of its NG-Pod in 2017, with plans already in place to increase that further in the coming years.
This project win falls in line with Calvera’s international expansion progress, particularly in Europe where it is already involved in other biogas projects such as France. The group is also developing its presence outside the continent by offering NG-Pod turnkey services in countries such as Colombia.
Established in Zaragoza in 1954, Calvera is comprised of three business divisions; Calvera Industrial Gases, Calvera Gas Technology and Calvera Hydrogen. It is principally focused on the storage and transport of compressed gases.
