A high-profile appointment has been made by US carbon capture company Carbon Clean, namely former US Secretary of Energy Ernest J. Moniz.
The role will see Moniz, founder of strategic advisory firm EJM Associates, joining the team as an advisor to the company’s Board of Directors.
As part of the industry’s efforts to decarbonise, Moniz will provide guidance to the company on its strategy to become a ‘leading player’ in the low-carbon transition.
With global focus shifting to removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and enabling hydrogen production, Moniz sees carbon capture as a central part of a response to climate change.
“Ramping up deployment now is crucial and innovating in cost-reducing carbon capture technology is a key,” he said.
“I’m pleased to be advising Carbon Clean at this critical time for industrial decarbonisation.”
The new addition comes during the company’s rapid expansion in North America, in addition to raising $30m investment from major corporations including Chevron Technology Ventures.
Stating that Moniz will be a ‘huge asset’ to Carbon Clean, Aniruddha Sharma, CEO, Co-founder, Carbon Clean, added that the appointment also represents a vote of confidence in the company’s approach.
