Pat Murphy, President of Linde North America, has been named Chairman of the Compressed Gas Association’s (CGA) Board of Directors, Linde has revealed.

Murphy was unanimously elected to the one year position, which runs through to April 2009 and will preside over the CGA’s Board, whose responsibilities include overseeing the work of the CGA, setting its priorities and approving its budget.

Murphy has been a member of the CGA Board since 1994, serving two previous terms as Chairman in 1997 and 1998.

Joining AGA Gas in 1979, Murphy has extensive experience in the industrial gases industry and held a variety of roles at the now Linde owned AGA, including president and managing director of the North American region. Following Linde’s 2006 acquisition of BOC, Murphy was named president of the newly combined BOC and Linde business in North America.

Linde North America is part of The Linde Group, a leading global gases and engineering company.
