China’s natural CO2 gas fields: The battle to tap into a goldmine of high purity resource
The State Council of China announced in November 2009 that China was going to reduce the intensity of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per unit of GDP in 2020 by 40-45% compared with the level of 2005.
According to the China Industrial Gas Industry Association (CIGIA), the CO2 emission of China is the highest in the world, accounting for almost 30% of global total emissions.
In order to meet this target, over the years, many manufacturing and production processes have been upgraded and many measures have been taken – including installation of gas recovery systems that people in the gas industry are so familiar with.
