When gasworld hosted its first ever CO2 Summit in March 2017, the emphasis was on bridging the supply gap, with some regions like the US expected to experience significant supply-demand imbalance in the years ahead as end-user applications continue to grow.

Two years on, and supply has become an even more significant issue, not only in Europe but also across other regions in the world. The summer of 2018 will be remembered for the ‘CO2 crisis’ in Europe and Mexico, but there were significant concerns in the US as well.

Against this backdrop, gasworld returns to Austria this march to raise and debate the concerns in the CO2 (carbon dioxide) business, as well as the undoubted interest in this sector – interest that only continues to increase. The need for discussion on future sourcing is arguably more pressing than ever before. After the European CO2 supply shortage, that not only caught the attention of mainstream media and concerned end-users and distributors but also highlighted the inherent fragilities in the supply chain, questions are understandably being asked of how to avoid this happening again in future.
