Cognis Deutschland GmbH and Air Liquide continue hydrogen contract

Cognis Germany and Air Liquide have renewed and enlarged their existing contract for the supply of gaseous hydrogen by pipeline.

Air Liquide will double the amount of hydrogen delivered to the customer’s site at Düsseldorf-Holthausen from 2006. The new contract is valid for 15 years.

Cognis uses hydrogen for the hydrogeneration of oleochemical derivatives, which are made of renewable raw materials like palm oil, coconut oil, etc.

Executive Vice President of Air Liquide and Chairman of its European Management Committee Klaus schmeider said, “This contract is another important milestone in our expansion in the Rhine-Ruhr region and in the development of our hydrogen business, further to the acquisition of Messer activities in Germany”.
