The countdown is on to gasworld’s inaugural virtual event, with less than two weeks to go until the online conference gets underway.
To be held on 1st December, the Virtual Event 2020 is focused on the Asia-Pacific market and titled Asia-Pacific: Realising New Market Opportunities & Supply Chains. It represents gasworld’s first foray into virtual events and boasts an already strong and wide-ranging agenda of industrial gas talking points and top speakers to match
Sanjiv Lamba, recently appointed COO of Linde plc, heads that agenda and will officially get the event underway with the Opening Keynote.
Lamba has served in several roles including most recently as Executive Vice-President of APAC, Head of Regional Business units – South & South East Asia, and various financial roles during his 31 years with the industrial gas giant.
He has also previously spoken at gasworld events in the region and was the keynote for gasworld’s Future-Proofing Industrial Gases Summit in Singapore in June 2019.
Confirmation of his keynote at the Virtual Event 2020 came just two days after it was announced that Linde plc’s Board of Directors had appointed Lamba to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from 1st January 2021.
Rob Cockerill, gasworld Global Managing Editor, enthused, “Anyone that knows Sanjiv or has seen him speak at events will know that he’s the perfect keynote. Not only is he charismatic and engaging – with the room hanging on his every word – he is also so very measured and enlightening, bringing those decades of knowledge, experience and unparalleled insight to the table. When he speaks, you listen.”
“So we are absolutely delighted to welcome Sanjiv to be the keynote for our first ever virtual event this December. We welcome his insights at any time, but during such a period of disruption and change for our industry, I can’t think of a better person to share his observations on 2020, the Asia-Pacific region, the industry and what the future holds.”

Lamba’s keynote is provisionally titled The Region, The Business Climate, The Opportunity, and will set the scene for an event that dives into the dynamics of the Chinese, Japanese and Indian industrial gas markets, as well as the clean fuels movement and hot topic gases/applications.
This agenda includes separate panel sessions dedicated to China, India and Japan, a Pan-Asia Panel exploring the many strongly emerging industrial gas markets in the region, and a Hot Topic Gases session that promises to be as diverse as it is hot – helium, CO2 (carbon dioxide) and electronics will all be up for discussion.
Among the esteemed speakers and industrial gas stakeholders on the agenda for the event are Air Liquide Japan CEO Virginie Cavalli and Yoshiki Koizumi, President of The Gas Review, both of whom will share their insights into the Japanese gases market of today and tomorrow.
A dynamic China-focused session will dive into the fundamentals of the China market and its supply chain, as well as the Impact of Covid-19 (coronavirus). This will be dissected by a joint talk from Edgar Hotard – ARCH Venture Partners, Shanghai Baosteel Gases and SIAD Venture Partner, Senior Advisor – and Bluce Ren and Sheng Zhongke.
Additionally, gasworld Publisher and CEO John Raquet will neatly dovetail the opening Japan and China sessions with a talk exploring the two, titled Battle of the New Entrants: China vs Japan.
A dedicated Indian panel session will include a talk from AIIGMA President Saket Tiku, while other confirmed speakers include Dr. David Hart, Director of E4tech, and James Laybourn, Asia-Pacific Business Development Manager at DNV GL – Oil & Gas, both of whom will take part in a panel devoted to Clean Fuels/Energies.
When and how…
Supported by principal sponsor INOXCVA and feature sponsor Herose, the event will be held on 1st December (2020) and not only reflect on the hot topics of an altogether different industrial gas year, but also look ahead to the year in prospect (2021) and far beyond.
