Ravin MIRCHANDANI also stated that the plant operations and processes were based on those in the French facility at Ennery and that there had been a wonderful and professional working relationship between staff at both sites.
Guest speaker, the regional Consul General for France, honourable Mr Pierre Fournier, welcomed the investment made by Air Liquide and Cryolor to the region. It is a move which follows other major French companies interest such as St.Gobain (float glass) and Peugeot. Indeed, he stated there were 80 French based companies now operating in Tamil Nadu.

The other main guest was the Chief Controller of Explosives, Shri T R Thomas, whose department is responsible for the safety standards within the industrial gases business in India. Guests included senior Air Liquide management from the Indian Operations, management from Paris and also two recent former MD’s of Cryolor – who were central to the planning of the facility over the past five years. Other guests included customers from as far as Australia, South Africa and the Middle East as well as within India.

The new CEO of Air Liquide India – Jacques Cutayar received two of the first cryogenic tanks to “roll off” the production line and they were sent on their way to a big fan fare. A plant tour followed by presentations and an evening reception rounded-off a successful inauguration for the company. Ravin MIRCHANDANI brought proceedings to a close at the plant stating that he was proud of the relationship between Cryolor and the plant designers, contractors and the staff for completing such a well designed facility with no lost time incidents in over 700,000 man-hours and despite, at times, tricky conditions with monsoons and high temperature conditions.
