Cryogenic equipment manufacturer Cryolor has today announced its investment in a purpose built, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Chennai, India, scheduled for completion in 2009 and immediately allowing the company to build on its well established customer base in South Asia.
The planned facility will result in a 15,000 square-meter plant built on 40,000 square-meters of land and will produce a wide range of cryogenic bulk tanks, from small to super large sizes, also benefiting from the location’s close proximity to the Chennai port complex.
In addition to a domestic gas industry expanding at a rate close to 10% per year and forecasts that India could be the 5th or 6th largest market within the next 20 years, India is also perceived to be providing excellent skilled engineers and workers, and offers all the raw materials necessary to manufacture Cryolor’s products.
To oversee workshop construction and product manufacturing launch, the company has appointed Ravin Mirchandani as managing director of Cryolor India.
Drawing on his significant experience in the industrial gas industry and in-depth knowledge of the Indian and South East Asia market, Mirchandani commented, “We intend to manufacture a broad range of products in India in the years to come. The new facility will be Cryolor’s lead supply facility for our customers in India, the rest of Asia and the Middle East. We are excited about the opportunities this site will offer and look forward to working even more closely with our customers in the region.”
Jean Bécourt-Foch, managing director of Cryolor S.A, added, “Cryolor’s investment in India proves our dedication to accompany and serve our customers world-wide. We also have completed a major expansion of our France-based plant’s capacity, supported by the strong demand in Europe and oriented to expand our product offering in particular for larger tanks, tankers and services.”
“These significant investments strengthen and diversify our production capacity with a mix of resources that supports flexibility and reactivity; they will reinforce Cryolor’s position as a world-class supplier to our customers,” Becourt-Foch concluded.
