High pressure cylinder manufacturer Chesterfield Special Cylinders (CSC) has entered the US market by opening its first operation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The company said that the CSC Inc. move will offer the US gas trailer sector stability of supply for safety-critical gas containment systems.
The new establishment will be fronted by Deborah Schultz and Mark Semekoski, two of the US’s most experienced gas tube experts, according to the company.
Vice-President Schultz emphasised, “CSC is trusted by gas majors worldwide for safety-critical transportation tubes. The US team knows and understands the needs of the US trailer market and is already in talks with key players.”

Managing Director Mick Pinder added, “CSC is proud to have the world’s leading trailers tube design and manufacturing experts in the UK, in Germany and now in the US, combining British engineering with American know-how to service this very demanding market.”
CSC supplies trailer tubes used by gas transportation companies around the world, with services including system design solutions, cylinder manufacturing and cylinder retesting and refurbishment. Its typical product range covers cylinders with a capacity range of between 0.5 to 3,000 litres and working pressures of 100 to 600 bar.
ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE LTD’s Managing Director Marco Pellegrino revealed earlier this year that the Switzerland-based corporation was “targeting big opportunities in the US,” which has been brought to fruition with the establishment of its new US-based subsidiary.
Chesterfield Special Cylinders’ Integrity Management team (CSC IM) has welcomed DNV GL’s move to make acoustic emissions (AE) testing the preferred method for carrying out periodical inspections of seamless gas cylinders.
